The mission of The Alden Foundation is to foster and expand affordable housing opportunities for low and very low-income seniors, both active and frail, and persons with special needs by distinctively designing and developing communities that residents proudly call home, offering programs and services to maximize independence, and promoting healthy aging in place.
About us
The Alden Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the development, ownership, and operation of affordable housing for older adults. Founded in 1990, the organization refined its mission in 1996 to focus on creating and preserving high-quality housing opportunities for seniors.
Since that time, Alden has developed more than 1,000 units of affordable and mixed-income senior housing. Our work is grounded in the belief that housing should provide more than shelter. It should offer stability, dignity, connection, and the ability to age in place with comfort and security.
We are committed to creating thoughtfully designed communities that are attractive, functional, and welcoming for older adults. Our properties include amenities and common spaces that promote comfort, accessibility, and social engagement. In addition, on-site programming and supportive services provided through community partners help residents remain active, independent, and connected.
The need for affordable senior housing is significant and growing. Many of the residents we serve live on fixed incomes, making affordability essential to their long-term stability and peace of mind. Our communities consistently lease quickly and maintain strong occupancy, often with extensive waiting lists, reflecting both the quality of our housing and the depth of the need it serves.
